The Cadet Honor Code

We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does.

As an Air Force officer, you must lead by example, exemplify the characteristics of a leader, and demonstrate true integrity. Air Force standards are high; you must keep them there. Don't accept anything less from yourself and expect the same from those with whom you work and supervise. Your obligation to our country is higher than that of your peers. You will be forced to make difficult decisions-make the honorable choice. America is counting on you!

Description

"The purpose of the Honor Code is to foster an environment based upon a personal sense of honesty and integrity which will remain with you throughout your life. Quite simply, the implementation of the Cadet Honor Code means that you will be trusted to do that which is right and must confront those who violate these standards...throughout your cadet career, you will be expected to live by the Honor Code."

Definitions

Lying

Lying is any statement of untruth which is meant to deceive or mislead.

Stealing

Anyone who wrongfully takes, obtains, or withholds someone else's property, with the intent to temporarily or permanently deprive another of such property, is guilty of stealing.

Cheating

In essence, cheating is taking unfair advantage of another. Cheating violates the competitive sense of "Fair Play."

Toleration

Toleration means enduring without complaint. If you know one cadet has stolen from another cadet and you fail to report or confront the matter, you may be guilty of toleration.
