Military Excellence Team

In Caelum Primus

The DET 355 Military Excellence Competition (MEC) Team was started in 2002 to promote physical fitness via rigorous training for athletic competitions at ROTC detachments around the country. The 15 MEC Team members compete in basketball, Ironman events, long distance running, relay races, swim relays, soccer, and dodgeball.

The team is compiled of only the most physically fit of DET 355, with members ranging from freshman through seniors. Each week, team members attend MEC Team workouts, both during and in addition to Wing PT, where event specific training is accomplished. The training runs constantly throughout each semester and the entire school year so that when the DET 355 MEC Team arrives at competitions, the teams are in the best possible shape, coming prepared to "smoke the competition."

This year, the team will travel to RPI in the spring to compete in Ironman, Swim relays, 4x400 relay, Dodgeball, and a Warrior Challenge.

Recent team accomplishments include winning 2nd place overall at the Holy Cross MEC (2004), 1st place for swimming portion of the Holy Cross MEC (2004), 1st place in RPI Basketball Tournament (2004), and 3rd place for 4 X 400 relay at RPI MEC (2003).
