Deadlines for Summer Programs Extended

It’s not too late to apply!

Boston University International Programs is extending the application deadlines for Summer 2006 programs.

The deadlines for the following programs will be April 1, 2006.

• Alexandria Intensive Arabic Language Program (see below for more details)
• Tuscany Landscape Painting Program
• Dakar Senegalese Studies Program

The deadlines for all other programs will be March 15, 2006. We will continue to accept applications after that date on a space-available basis. Please call 617-353-9888 for more information.

Financial aid available
Boston University will award approximately 75 need and merit-based scholarships to students enrolled in Summer 2006 programs. For more information and application forms, click:  www.bu.edu/abroad/aid

The deadline for Summer financial aid applications is: April 1, 2006.

New summer program in Arabic
In Summer 2006 BU will inaugurate a new program in Arabic Language Studies, the Alexandria Intensive Arabic Language Program. This summer program offers students the opportunity to spend eight weeks studying and living in Egypt, home of the most widely spoken and understood dialect in the Arabic-speaking world. Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great, and ruled by Cleopatra, was once the great rival of Rome and is the second largest city in Egypt. Its attractions include the Catacombs of Kom Ash-Shuqqafa, Pompey’s Pillar and the Serapeum, a Roman Ampitheatre, a Graeco-Roman Museum, and the Alexandrian Library. Overnight excursions to Luxor, Cairo, and Aswan will be included in the program. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn eight Boston University credits. Dates: June 1 – July 28, 2006 (tentative).
