Housing

Boston University arranges accommodations with French host families for students to facilitate their language acquisition and to integrate them into everyday French life. All students are provided with accommodations in French households throughout the city. Households chosen to participate in the program represent a wide range of incomes and situations, from an elderly woman living alone to a couple living in the city to a suburban family with several young children.

For many students, living in a French household and commuting to school on the local trams and buses is a significant part of experiencing local life. Students are given a single room, breakfast, and a specified number of evening meals per month in the home. They receive an allowance for local transportation and for all the other meals not taken with their hosts.
