CAS SP 400 Intensive Spanish Language and Culture, 2 cr.

CAS AR 503 Archaeological Field Methods: Survey and Excavation
An interdisciplinary course dealing with field and laboratory techniques; research methods, concepts, and problems in archaeological theory; and formulation of research designs. Staff. 4 cr.

CAS AR 551 Studies in Mesoamerican Archaeology
Analysis of major events and processes of the Maya area as studied through field tours of archaeological sites, and informal pro-seminars. Staff. 4 cr.

CAS AR 556 Archaeological Field Research Experience
Supervised original research in an excavation, survey, or field laboratory situation, as part of a field study program. 8 cr.

Faculty

William Saturno: PhD, Harvard University. Dr. Saturno is a Assistant Professor of Archaeology at Boston University, and director of the San Bartolo Regional Archaeology Project. He discovered an ancient, well-preserved Maya mural in San Bartolo, and is a specialist in Maya archaeology. His additional interests include remote sensing, GIS, art & iconography, complex societies, and archaeology in popular culture.
