Spring Semester: January 12th to May 3rd, 2010
Fall Semester: August 30 to December 20, 2009

In the heart of Rabat’s medina, students live, learn, and explore the language and culture of North Africa. The Rabat Language and Liberal Arts Program takes students into the world of Arabic language and into the culture of Islam and North Africa, in Morocco’s cosmopolitan capital city. Along with an intensive study of Arabic language, students explore the history, politics, and religion of Morocco and this ever-changing region of the world through coursework, homestays, and excursions. Upon successful completion of a semester students will earn 16 Boston University credits.

Host Institution

The Center for Cross Cultural Learning (CCCL), is a private cultural institution founded and directed by Moroccan academics with many years of experience in cross-cultural education. Courses in Fus’ha (modern Arabic) and Darija (Moroccan Arabic) are taught by professionals trained specifically to teach Arabic as a second language. Lecturers include outstanding scholars in the areas of social science, humanities, literature, religion, and architecture, as well as artists, journalists, NGO activists, artisans, and craftsmen. The CCCL is located in a nineteenth-century building in the medina, the oldest section of the city of Rabat. For more information on the CCCL, please visit www.cccl.ma.
