Admissions

Application Deadlines:

Fall Semester/Academic Year: March 15
Spring Semester: Extended to Friday, September 25th (originally September 15)

For Spring 2010, the application deadline has been extended to Friday, September 25th.

For the spring semester, preference will be given to qualified students who submit their complete applications by September 15. After that date applications will be accepted on a space available basis until October 15.

Requirements:

Madrid Language and Liberal Arts Program


•All students must complete the full 16-credit program, enrolling in four academic courses

Level I: Intensive Spanish Language Studies
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (in major and overall)
• Minimum of second-semester college-level Spanish language, or the equivalent, with grades of B or better

Level II: Advanced Language and University Studies
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (in major and overall)
• Minimum of fifth-semester college-level Spanish, or the equivalent, with grades of B or better
• Language screening interviews may be required

Level III : Honors
(Spring semester only)
• Minimum 3.3 GPA (cumulative)
• Minimum of sixth-semester college-level Spanish, or the equivalent, with grades of B or better
• Language screening interviews may be required

Madrid Internship Program
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (in major and overall)
• Open to students who have completed a minimum of fifth-semester college-level Spanish, or the equivalent, with grades of B or better
•All students must complete the full 16-credit program, enrolling in three academic courses and one internship course

Program Fee

2009/2010 Program Cost: $24,879

The following are included in the program fee:
• Tuition
• Internship placement (when applicable)
• Housing
• Board
• Airfare from New York
• Field trips
• Local transportation allowance
• Pre-approved or selected limited cultural reimbursements
• Emergency travel assistance coverage

The cost for 2010/2011 has not yet been announced and will be subject to approval by the Board of Trustees at Boston University.

Boston Staff

 

The Boston University Madrid Programs are administered by staff in both our Boston and Madrid offices. In Boston, a program manager facilitates the admissions and orientation procedures, and maintains contact with students prior to their arrival in Madrid. The Boston Office also houses administrative personnel who are responsible for everyday operations. In Madrid, the staff comprises a resident director, administrative, academic and housing personnel.
