School of Social Work

The School of Social Work offers an integrated program of study incorporating methods in clinical and macro social work in urban settings. The program offers MSW and PhD degrees. Students learn to engage individual and community strengths to further their understanding, treatment, and prevention of individual and social problems. With over $2.5 million in research grants and contracts focused on current clinical and community challenges in urban environments, students have the opportunity to impact critical issues in areas such as substance abuse, gerontology, compulsive hoarding, and related mental health concerns.

Features:

  • Our flexible part-time, off-campus weekend sites allow students to complete the MSW in three years in accessible, affordable locations in Northeastern and Southeastern Massachusetts.
  • Dual degree programs provide interdisciplinary study in education, public health, and theology.
  • An Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Sociology and Social Work prepares master's-level social work professionals for careers in research, academia, public policy, and related leadership positions.
  • The Field Education Program gives students the opportunity to apply theories and skills they are learning in the classroom to actual practice.
  • Professional Education Programs deliver professional workshops and certificate specialized programs. Also, a two-week language-immersion program lets participants study Spanish and learn about the social service and health care systems in Costa Rica.
