The Trustee Scholarship is Boston University's most prestigious
merit-based award, recognizing those students who show outstanding
academic and leadership abilities. Trustee Scholars are selected
from students who have been nominated by principals and headmasters
of high schools throughout the world. Each Scholar receives
a renewable scholarship covering full undergraduate tuition
and mandatory fees. Those students who are most qualified for
the scholarship are usually in the top one percent of their
class and are also leaders in their schools and communities.
Trustee Scholars form their own unique community at Boston University, participating in a range of intellectual, cultural, and social activities. Trustee Scholars and distinguished members of the University—including Nobel prize winners, prominent authors, and esteemed scholars—gather informally every other week at 25 Lenox Street, a Victorian house that is a home away from home for the Trustee Scholars, to participate in a discussion about myriad topics. Social activities include cookouts at 25 Lenox Street, Halloween parties, faculty and Trustee Scholar receptions at 25 Lenox Street, and an annual trip to Boston University's Sargent Camp in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
They also participate in cultural activities such as trips to the ballet, the Museum of Science, and the New England Aquarium. Sports fans have the opportunity to attend Red Sox games, theatre lovers attend the Huntington Theatre performances, and art lovers attend lectures at the Museum of Fine Arts.
