Au Revoir to Departing International Students

In May, the Office of International Alumni Programs held a farewell reception for all of BU’s graduating or departing international students, including those from BU Global and the Center for English Language and Orientation Programs. The event was intended to welcome those students into the BU alumni community and encourage them to remain connected, even as they prepared to leave Boston. The gathering drew about 100 departing students, whose nations of origin ranged from Canada to Singapore to Uganda. Steve Karbank (CAS’79), president of the Boston University Alumni Council, told the crowd, “There’s a curious phenomenon alumni feel. It seems that the further away one is from Boston, the stronger and more deeply felt the connection to Boston University.”
