Frank Citrone Research Fund

February 28, 2009. A dinner-dance and auction was held at Moseley's on the Charles in Dedham MA to raise money for research on amyloidosis and on Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, in honor of Frank Citrone.

Race to Beat Amyloid

March 7, 2009. The second annual Bill Cunningham Memorial Ski Race was held at Cannon Mountain, VT, with proceeds supporting amyloidosis research.

2nd Annual Search for a Cure

October 13, 2007. This community wide scavenger hunt was organized by the May Fund to raise money and awareness for Familial Amyloidosis.

Nov 4, 2006. A special event for patients coincided with the International Symposium on Amyloidosis.
XIth International Symposium on Amyloidosis
Nov 5-9, 2006. The XIth International Symposium on Amyloidosis was held on the Cape Cod seashore at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. The keynote speaker was Dr. Stanley Prusiner.

10.07.08 A report on AL-Base, the Amyloid Light Chain Database, has been accepted for publication in Amyloid: Journal of Protein Folding Disorders. AL-Base contains molecular information (both nucleotide and amino acid sequences) on more than 400 amyloid light chain proteins.

"July 2007: The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies of Science has published an update of their analysis of the health risks of Agent Orange that has reclassified AL amyloidosis as one of the diseases that may be associated with Agent Orange exposure, based upon "limited or suggestive evidence". This may make it easier for veterans with AL amyloidosis who were exposed to Agent Orange to receive compensation."
