Astrid Veronica
Astrid, from Jakarta, Indonesia, began studying at CELOP in the fall of 2004. She is currently majoring in cellular and molecular biology and minoring in Business Administration at Northeastern University, where she is also an active member in many student organizations.
Astrid decided to study at CELOP because she wanted to spend her time in Boston the wisest way possible.
CELOP is a great place to study English, even for beginners with no previous experience with the English language. Everything that I learned was valuable for my classes at the university where I’m studying right now. It’s a good thing to learn and meet international people at CELOP before you really go out into the community.
Astrid gained many types of knowledge while studying at CELOP:
I learned a lot of things at CELOP, but there is one thing that I will always remember. The course from my “Academic Writing Class” is equivalent to the English courses I have taken at Northeastern University. This means that CELOP offers high-level courses that students will benefit from when they attend college.
She will always remember two CELOP events in particular,
The Halloween Party of ’04 because I won third prize in the costume contest.
The Pizza Party because it is the best time to meet all of CELOP’s students. I went to spring’05 and summer ’05 Pizza Party although I’m not a CELOP student anymore. I like this party because I am able to meet my former teachers, friends, and also new people there.
About the teachers at CELOP:
They gave me precious knowledge and many of the teachers were really fun and I feel like they are good friends to me.
Astrid adds:
I would recommend studying at CELOP to anyone interested in improving their English, especially beginners! Trust me! This is the best place to learn and also improve your English! The vocabulary subject in my morning class helped me through my SAT test a lot!
You get to know and have fun with a lot of international people in CELOP who are in the same situation as you. It's a great thing to be in CELOP! Some of the people I met at CELOP have become my best friends.
