Jessica Li-Chi HungJessica (Li-Chi) Hung

Jessica comes from Hsin-Chiu, Taiwan.  She studied at CELOP in the fall of 2005.

About her experience at CELOP she says,

Studying at CELOP was a very wonderful and rich experience for me.  In addition to studying all aspects of English, including grammar, reading, listening, speaking and reading, I also learned and explored a lot of American Culture via many different events or activities, i.e. Halloween Event, English Presentation. During this fall semester, I went on a historical trip to Plymouth to explore both the native Wampanoag and the English colonists with my classmates.

Actually, it was not only a trip, but also an English learning class for us. Before we went to Plymouth, we learned about colonization in United States, the native Wampanoag and the English colonists.  We did a lot of online work.  It was an interesting and different but helpful way for me to learn English.

When we arrived in Plymouth, we saw Plymouth Rock, which is the first stone that the English colonists stood on, the statue of Masasito and the Mayflower II. We boarded this boat, explored each part of it, and we also had a chance to ask some questions to role players, who represented passengers and sailors from 1620, and knew what  happened on this boat 1620.

Furthermore, we also went to the Plimouth Plantation, where we saw a lot of things about the native Wampanoags and the English pioneers by exploring the Wampanoag Homesite and the 1627 Pilgrim Village.

I learned a lot about the history of Americans and the native Wampanaoags. And, of course, I also enhanced my English a lot through this interesting experience. I enjoyed it very much!
