Sister Olga Yaqob
Sister Olga Yaqob, from Iraq, studied at CELOP during the summer of 2001. She finished her Master’s degree in Ministry and Spirituality at Boston College and is currently a Chaplain for Boston University. She spoke at the BU Commencement in May 2006.
At CELOP, she learned to use the computer for the first time in her life.
She was in the challenging position of being one of the only students from Iraq who was studying in Boston during the events of September 11. She writes,
Being at CELOP during 9/11 taught me to be critical of the media and to trust the reality of my own experiences. The love and care given by the faculty and staff that surrounded me during my time at CELOP helped me to face the challenge of living in the United States during such turbulent times.
All of the things that I learned at CELOP have given me confidence in myself in a variety of situations.
