Ouapo Zegou Constant
Ouapo comes from Cote d’Ivoire, and he is taking an MBA program in Agribusiness at West Texas A&M University under the Fulbright Junior Staff Development Program. He took a pre-academic program at CELOP in Summer 2006.
If CELOP is not the best U.S. English language and orientation center, it cannot be far away from this position. CELOP has such expert teachers that everyone who needs to learn very quickly about the American culture and the English language get well prepared for an academic program in the U.S. or elsewhere should not hesitate to contact CELOP.
Those who have well identified goals and who are willing to work very hard to achieve those goals can rely on CELOP’s expertise characterized by excellent teachers and staff, high-tech equipment and facilities, updated teaching methods, etc.
Ouapo says when he arrived at CELOP, his expectations were
Improving my English, understanding and getting used to the American education environment and teaching methods, and acquiring more self-confidence to deal with the future challenges related to my MBA program.
He says that by the end of his four-week experience, the results were fabulous:
Regarding my first expectation, my progress was indubitably outstanding. My main challenge was listening and speaking since the American accent is really difficult to understand. Through this program, I got the opportunity to listen to people with different accents (my teachers, the CELOP personnel, my colleagues, and many other people). In particular, the individual presentations, the group discussions, and the teacher’s comments boosted both my ability to listen and to speak. Moreover, through our long and tough case studies, I improved my reading comprehension and my writing skills.
About my second expectation related to my understanding of the American education environment and teaching methods, it is clear that I learned a lot. I realised on these points how different the American education system is from the French system in which I have been educated. For example, evaluations in the U.S. are graded in the range of zero to one hundred percent. To be among the best students, one has to get at least eighty percent. As for the French system, the grades lie in the range zero to twenty.
Concerning my third expectation about self-confidence, I was fully satisfied since, through our case studies, I learned a lot about the business environment in the U.S., the basic business concepts and vocabulary, presentation techniques, etc. The genius of Mr. Ron Clark in the management of the pre-MBA class had waked my own genius that was sleeping in my mind.
The pre-academic program at CELOP was very helpful to Ouapo.
I humbly recognise that I need work to overcome all my limitations in this new education environment and succeed in my MBA program. But I cannot help praising the great job CELOP has done to prepare me for this MBA program that I am sure I will undertake with self-confidence and equanimity.
Ouapo was happy to find that Judy Di Leo, his academic advisor, is amazingly efficient in dealing with the inquiries of all the students.
Judy treats each student’s problem as her own problem and finds very quickly the right solution. It’s unbelievable, considering the number of students at CELOP.
On teachers at CELOP, he says,
They have deep teaching experience and know some special teaching techniques to raise very quickly a student’s level. I especially found fabulous Mr. Clark’s expertise to prepare students for the MBA.
Ouapo would strongly recommend CELOP to anyone who wants to study hard in order to quickly raise his English level. He will never regret his choice.
Thanks to CELOP, I can now talk with people without any complex and write any kind of paper in English without being stuck to the dictionary.
He says that thanks to CELOP, his adaptation to the West Texas A&M University has been easy because he can express himself, understand people, and interact with them.
As soon as I arrived in this new environment, I made a lot of American friends. It’s unbelievable!
