Lab Tour

We recently upgraded 2 1/2 of our 4 labs. The newest labs feature Mac Minis (Intel) with 19" Hanns-G LCD monitors and Logitech Premium Headset USB 350.

Room 255

17 Mac Minis.

Logitech or Plantronics USB headset/mics.

Room 257

19 Mac Minis.

Ceiling-mounted Epson projector and ceiling-mounted Polk Audio RC80i speakers. The speakers have custom-made MDF boxes with foam to contain sound in ceiling space and project it down into the classroom, which greatly enhances bass and elimnates the need for subwoofers.

100 watt audio amplifier (AudioSource Amp 100) is housed in the ceiling. Connections to computer are made at a wall outlet with VGA and 3.5mm stereo audio jacks.

Room 267a

18 Apple eMacs. Room also has ceiling-mounted projection and desk-mounted speakers.

Room 267b (Open Lab)

The Open Lab is a self-access lab available to students to use on their own all day. It has 4 Apple eMacs and . . .

6 Dell PCs running Windows XP. When we replace these PCs, it will be with Mac Minis running Mac OS X and Windows Vista with VMware. Since the Mac hardware runs both Mac and Windows OSes, there's no reason to limit options with PC hardware.
