International Business English
Who should choose this concentration?
Those at the high-intermediate level or above who want to focus on business English, either for academic or professional purposes.
What will I learn?
As with all CELOP core classes, International Business English will help you develop the skills, fluency and confidence you need to communicate effectively in English. You will improve your overall abilities in both spoken and written English, as well as your understanding of US culture. After completing your program, you will be better prepared to use English at work, in school, or among international friends.
What will my classes be like?
CELOP teachers use a variety of materials for instruction and practice in all essential skill areas: listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. Course materials may include textbooks, magazine and newspaper articles, the Internet, ESL software, radio and television programs, and movies.
Class activities in this concentration may include:
- Participating in discussions, meetings and negotiations
- Understanding and using business vocabulary
- Learning how to function in the global business environment
- Reading and discussing case studies, business texts and articles
- Writing on business topics
- Developing business presentation skills
