Elizabeth J. A. Siwo-Okundi is no stranger to the Boston University community in that she has been a student, lecturer, minister, and since 2005, has served as the Spiritual Advisor to Inner Strength Gospel Choir (ISGC). In her new role as Chapel Associate, Elizabeth will continue to support ISGC, lead Bible studies, and engage the community in deeper spiritual exploration.
Elizabeth is experienced in a diversity of settings (corporate, university, and non-profit), each of which has informed her ministry. In her research and her sermons, she explores what she calls the “small voice”--the voice that is overlooked or diminished and yet is critical to the development and understanding of the story. The small voice includes one who is marginalized based on some aspect of her or his circumstances, social standpoint, or life experiences.
Elizabeth is from Kenya. She is passionate about her work with orphans and is Founder and President of Orphan Wisdom, Inc., an organization which supports orphans. In the spring of 2007, ISGC held a benefit concert in which they raised over $1,000 to support orphans in Kenya. Elizabeth is a graduate of LeadBoston (Boston Center for Community and Justice) Class of 2007 and is a Class Agent.
