Lauded as a "fine baroque stylist," Teresa enjoys an internationally successful career as soloist in opera and oratorio. She has been praised by such publications as the Wall Street Journal, Early Music America, and the Miami Herald. After receiving her B.M. in Vocal Performance and Musicology at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2003, she pursued her passion for baroque music, earning a M.M in Historical Performance at Boston University's College of Fine Arts in 2005. Ms. Wakim has sung in many of the world's most renowned halls for equally illustrious leaders including Sir Roger Norrington and Ton Koopmon. She has sung with Boston Baroque, Apollo's Fire, the Handel & Haydn Society, Tragicomedia, and Seraphic Fire. Also fond of chamber music, her work extends to smaller ensembles as well, including Les Bostonades, Newton Baroque, Sprezzatura, Exsultemus, The Sun's Darlings, and Amphion's Lyre. Her debut commercial recording, of Lully's opera Thésée with the Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. In addition, Ms. Wakim is Choral Scholar in the Marsh Chapel Choir at Boston University. Future engagements include the role of 'Diane' in Charpentier's Actéon with the Boston Early Music Festival, 'Lisbeth' in Mendelssohn's rarely-performed opera Son and Stranger with Masterworks Chorale, and solo performances with Back Bay Chorale, Seraphic Fire, and Bourbon Baroque.
