Dr. Tsay’s research focuses on the psychological and social effects of mass media, enjoyment of entertainment programming, cognitive and emotional mediated responses, and the psychology of new media technologies. She serves on the editorial board of Communication Reports, and is an ad hoc reviewer for Journal of Communication, Media Psychology, Communication Research, Communication Theory, and Personal Relationships. She is the co-research chair of the Entertainment Studies Interest Group of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) and a nominations committee member of the Mass Communications Division of the National Communication Association (NCA). She has taught communication at the Pennsylvania State University and University of Kentucky, and her teaching interests include communication theory, research methods, and social processes and effects of mass media. Her industry experiences consist of writing, producing, and editing image promotions for broadcasting companies, such as Hearst Argyle, Inc., The Walt Disney Company, and Viacom.
