Payment Deadlines

Full payment and/or documentation for settlement must be received before the payment deadline, regardless of when you choose to register for classes. Since Student Accounting Services cannot issue billing statements until registration has occurred, students are encouraged to register early.

Additionally, students who reside in University Housing on the Charles River Campus will not be permitted to move into on-campus residences until their accounts are settled with Student Accounting Services. Once Boston University receives full payment of the amount due for the semester, you will be officially registered.

If your student account is not fully paid and you are not officially registered by the semester due date, or if you default on a payment plan, you may not be entitled to University services and you will remain responsible for all charges. The following actions are taken:
  • A comptroller hold will be placed on your student account.
  • You will be denied access to University facilities and services.
  • You will not be permitted to register for classes for the next semester.

A hold is a serious action and requires immediate resolution. If the account problem is not resolved you jeopardize your opportunity to be reviewed for Financial Aid and you may be removed from University Housing on the Charles River Campus.

If you fail to meet the payment deadline, you will be assessed a late fee.
