For years, the faculty
of first-year Core Natural Sciences kick off their semester by
gathering the students of CC105 in the CAS rear parking lot. Their
purpose is in strict keeping with the empirical values of investigative
science: to determine whether gravity will act on fruit released
from the top of a four-story fire escape. These photos
were taken during the September 2008 installment of this annual
Galilean inquiry.
Photo 1: Prof. James Jackson releases a pineapple
and a grapefruit. Conclusion: the force of gravity causes fruit
to splatter.
