Income Verification for Incoming Students

Federal regulations and University policy require verification of information used to determine a student’s eligibility for financial aid.

You will be asked to provide verification of your and your parents’ income after U.S. federal taxes have been filed. The requested documentation will include:

  • A complete copy of your U.S. federal income tax return *
  • A complete copy of your parents’ U.S. federal income tax return *
  • Copies of all of your parents’ W-2 forms
  • Verification of any untaxed income
If you and/or your parents do not and are not required to file with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.), an Income Verification Form, with a statement of non-filer status, will be required.

Please note the special BU policy regarding how your aid application will be processed if you and/or your parents have not yet filed their income tax return and have requested an extension of the tax filing deadline with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.).

* As actually submitted to the I.R.S.
