All returning student applicants, both new and renewal are required to submit income verification documentation to verify income information provided on the PROFILE and FAFSA. Applicants who received need-based aid, other than a Federal Direct Stafford Loan (subsidized or unsubsidized), in the prior academic year are required to submit their income documents through the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC). All other applicants must submit income documentation directly to the Office of Financial Assistance.
If you are required to submit your income documents through IDOC, CSS will mail you a Cover Sheet, customized from your CSS PROFILE registration information, in February. Carefully review the instructions on the Cover Sheet, and remember to sign it and enclose with it all requested parent and student U.S. income tax returns, W-2 forms, schedules, attachments (as actually submitted to the I.R.S.), and nontaxable income documentation.
IDOC will electronically image and transmit your income verification documentation to the Office of Financial Assistance. Confidentiality is assured.
If you have misplaced your IDOC Cover Sheet, download and print a duplicate copy from IDOC using your IDOC ID number. If you cannot recall your IDOC ID number, call IDOC at 305-829-9793.
Please note the special BU policy regarding how your aid application will be processed if you and/or your parents have not yet filed their income tax return and have requested an extension of the tax filing deadline with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.).
Please do not mail or fax additional copies of your income verification records directly to the Office of Financial Assistance.
