It is important that information on the PROFILE and FAFSA be consistent. If at all possible, they should be completed at the same time. When you complete the PROFILE, we urge you to print the College Board’s FAFSA Worksheet, which will display most of the information you entered on your PROFILE, formatted for you to enter on the FAFSA.
File your PROFILE and FAFSA using your full legal name; do not use a nickname, or any name other than your full legal name.
Filing Tips for the PROFILE and FAFSA offers further helpful pointers for filling out these two forms.

The CSS PROFILE (College Scholarship Service Financial Aid PROFILE Application) provides financial and other family information necessary to determine your eligibility for Boston University financial aid.
File the PROFILE online through the College Board. Boston University’s College Scholarship Service (CSS) code number is 3087.
Boston University requires that the student’s Social Security number be reported on the PROFILE.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is used to determine your eligibility for federal and state financial aid.
We strongly recommend that you complete your FAFSA online. Paper FAFSA forms are available at high schools and from the Boston University Office of Financial Assistance. List “Boston University” and our federal code number, 002130, in the College Release Section.
