Effects of an Outside Award on Your Financial Aid

If you receive an outside award, an adjustment in need-based aid will be required only if the total aid exceeds your calculated need.

Self-help (such as loans and Federal Work-Study) will always be reduced first, before any adjustment to the grant portion of your award is made. An adjustment in any merit-based aid will be required only if total awards exceed the cost of attendance or if tuition-based awards exceed the cost of tuition.
