When COBRA coverage ends

Continuation coverage will end under any of the following circumstances:

  • When the maximum time period for continued coverage (18, 29, or 36 months) is reached.
  • If the billed amount is not paid on time.
  • If you or your dependents become covered by another employer's group dental health plan through employment or otherwise (unless a pre-existing condition is not covered by the new plan). If you or your dependents become covered under another employer's group dental health plan, and that plan does not cover pre-existing conditions, continuation coverage through the Boston University Dental Health Plan can be extended up to the maximum continuation period.
  • If you or your dependents become entitled and elect coverage under Medicare.
  • If Boston University stops providing any dental health benefits to all employees.
