Do the BU Libraries still provide access to the Boston Herald Newspaper Morgue?
Yes - we will continue to provide service for the morgue on a limited basis.
The Boston Herald Newspaper Morgue is a collection of newspaper clippings, which until 1972 belonged to the Boston Herald. The clippings are from a variety of Boston newspapers, dating from the late 1800s to the early 1980s. The clippings are filed by subject and name. The files are stored in file cabinets and boxes in the Peter Fuller building on Commonwealth Avenue, and is not directly available to the public.
To gain access to the part of the collection that is stored in Fuller, please contact the Pickering Educational Resources Library (617-353-3734).
Which library has the most material on advertising?
If you are looking for data and statistics, you want to go to Pardee; if you're looking for actual advertisements, or books discussing the history or art of advertising, talk to reference librarians at Mugar. Check the catalog first - it includes the collections of both libraries.
My professor put books on Reserve - how do I know which library to go to?
Is the item a video? It is also possible that your professor
placed personal copies on Reserve at the Geddes
Language Center.
Do the libraries collect videos?
No;
but if your Instructor has placed material on Reserve for your
use, Mugar has both VCR and DVD players to view them. Krasker
Film/Video Services provides instructional support to Boston
University faculty, staff, and current students; films and videos
owned by Boston University are listed in their on-line
catalogue. Videos are
also available at the Geddes
Language Center.
