Beginning Saturday, May 3rd, at 8:00 a.m. through Sunday, May 11, at
11:59 p.m., Mugar Memorial Library will be open 24 hours.
Regular hours will resume on Monday, May 12, 2008.
Which floors at Mugar are available for study?
The
basement, 1st and 2nd floors are open for extended hours study.
Are the library computers available after hours? Can I print?
The
computers in the Reference area are left on and are available
to BU students; however, the library printers are shut down
at what would be the normal closing time (around 11 pm most
days) and do not re-open until 8 am.
Print jobs can be sent to
the IT PC Lab at 111 Cummington Street, which is open 24 hours
every day except Fri and Sat. nights (9pm-7am).
Can
my friend from another school study with me?
No
- only students with current BU ID (Terrier Cards) can stay
in the library after hours.
Are
library services available (reference, checking out books,
etc.)?
Sorry - no books can be checked out, nor is there reference service
during the study hours. However, regular library services resume
the next morning.
I'm
nervous about walking home at 3 am - is an escort available?
During
the hours from midnight to 6:00 a.m., Mugar Library will provide
a van service for anyone wanting a ride home
on campus. The van will make periodic pick-ups at the front
steps of Mugar Library only, with drop-offs at any on-campus
location. For more information, please contact the
Mugar Memorial Library Security Department at 617-353-4015.
Do
other BU libraries offer extended hours? Where else can I go
to study?
The hours for all the B.U. libraries are posted here. Some have extended hours during finals. Please contact the individual library directly if you have any questions. Another late
night study area is located at 750 Commonwealth
Avenue
How can I contact security?
Call the Mugar Memorial Library Security Department (at Circulation) at 617-353-4015; or the Security Desk at the entrance at 617-353-4012.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously or inappropriately,
or if you are the victim of a theft, please contact the Security
staff immediately. Be prepared to provide a report of the incident and a description of the suspect(s) involved.
Please help deter theft by not leaving personal property unattended. When you leave your study area, take your property with you or ask someone you know to watch your belongings while you're away.
