ASL receives gift of 18th Century Ethiopian manuscript. In 1708, a scribe noted that he had finished a copy of the Psalms of David and other religious tracts. The volume, written in graceful Amharic script, shows signs of use through many generations, and now holds a place of honor in the collections of the African Studies Library. Donated by Charles Samz, who acquired it during his travels as a petroleum geologist.
The Africana Librarians Council of the African Studies Association will be meeting at BU May 4-6, 2006. For more information see our web site or call 617-353-3726.
