1st floor location "salmon" label IT PC workstation cluster (BU Kerberos login) allows word processing, other programs, and internet access for current affiliates; save work to disc, USB Flash device, or email as an attachment. You may print for free on site from the "pink" cluster, but plese note that the default printer produces double-sided jobs. These workstations are first come, first served, and there are 24 of them. Their programs and features are the same as those offered at 111 Cummington Street's OIT main computing services center (basement level), look for the general PC access lab with help desks.
1st floor location "blue" label Library PC workstation cluster (current affiliates or visitors) does not allow for word processing (writing, editing), however you can view and save MS Word documents and other types such as Power Point slides and Excel sheets. There are about 24 of these workstations. Save to disc, USB Flash drive, CD, or email to yourself. Internet access is available. To print from this cluster, purchase the library's copy card; the cost is 10 cents per page. The copy card is also accepted by the library's standard photocopy machines.

1st floor photocopy services assist as needed with the public photocopy machines (use coins or copy card) and also manage departmental accounts and special copying jobs (617-353-3722).
2nd floor location, Music's "listening room" PC workstations support full internet access. They are not networked to a printer. One of these is fitted with the Dolphin adaptive screen-reader.
Headsets. You are welcome to bring your own small sets or earbuds, or you may use ours.

Macs for personal use are available at CFA's Computing Lab (617-353-3333) and at CFA's Music Curriculum Library (617-353-3731)
On-campus laptop wireless access via the vpn within the building and elsewhere is available to current students, faculty and staff. There is no networked wireless printing within the library, however. Establishing a vpn account might need finalization in person, bring some photo ID, at 111 Cummington Street.
Off-campus methods of authenticating your access to restricted library resources are changing; in most cases you'll simply be prompted to log in with your BU kerberos combination when entering a specially licensed resource from a library page.

Microform scanning and printing in the library is available in the Microforms Reading Room. Scanned frames may be saved as .pdf files on USB devices or sent as email attachments.
Other scanners are available in the computer lab and Help Desk area of 111 Cummington Street, basement level.
