Getting Library access, online, by proxy

In order to enter and deeply navigate through the library's online databases and journal subscriptions when you are off campus, you first need BU's library proxy method in place.

Why? BU's library proxy recognizes your Charles River campus affiliation. Your entitlement includes access to licensed titles marked both ChRiv-px and BU-px.

Proxy Method A: Browser Configuration

blue bulletBrowser configuration only has to be done once
blue bulletSee BU Browser Configuration and follow Charles River Campus (CRC) instructions

NB:
For stubborn problems with Browser Configuration, you may wish to submit this form to contact information systems personnel, but in the meantime, be sure to try the EZProxy method instead.

Proxy Method B: the EZProxy -a nice alternative to Browser Configuration

the URL to remember is: http://www.bu.edu/library/ezproxy

blue bulletPlan on re-entering ezproxy often, such as after logouts and restarts. Since it is a temporary proxy, it's especially useful when you work from different locations and systems.

blue bullet Once you've entered an online title, try to use that product's own internal navigation buttons. Use of your own browser's Back, Forward, or Home buttons may kick you out of a proxy session. If this happens, simply start your session again from the ezproxy address.

More Alternative Methods

VPN:
The VPN alternative is only for a remote user who can personally arrive on campus for final steps in authentication at Information Technology, 111 Cummington Street.
PPP:
The PPP is practical only for those working so close to campus who connect via direct dial and are supported by a very fast modem.
