To place scores, spoken and music recordings, books, articles,
and personal copies on reserve, please contact Olga
Khurgin (617-353-3705).
We are very pleased to be adding electronic reserves of sound recordings online via BU's CourseInfo. To take advantage of this service please:
- Request a CourseInfo site
- Add the Music Library as Course Builder
- Submit the list of repertiore you would like on the site
- Indicate how you would like the material organized (by folder, by weeks etc.)
To request a CourseInfo site:
- Go to: http://www.bu.edu/webcentral/learning/courseware/sites/
- Click: preferred courseware-selection page
- Click: Create a course site in CourseInfo or WebCT for my course.
- You will be directed to a page with a lot of text. Scroll down the page and click: Create my parent course now.
- Login with your Kerberos password.
- A page should appear listing the courses you are scheduled to teach. Select CourseInfo for each class requiring a site (each class but not each section - only request one site for each class)
- Within 24 hours you should receive notification of your site.
Follow the directions in the e-mail to access your site. Add the
Music Library as a course builder so that we may add audio examples.
To add the Music Library as Course Builders:
- Open your CourseInfo site
- Choose Control Panel (bottom button on left hand side)
- Under user management (Right hand side) choose "Create/Enroll User"
- Add musiclib as Course builder
Instruction
Schedule orientations or arrange for support for courses, thesis writers, and research projects with Holly Mockovak or Sarah Hunter (617-353-3705).
Loans
Your loan period is 19 weeks with two renewals. With a PIN (personal identification number), access your patron record via the library catalog and renew your own items. Set your PIN in person at main circulation, Mugar Memorial Library (617-353-3732).
To authorize your teaching assistants to borrow library materials on your behalf, submit a letter on official stationary, accompanied by your photo ID, at main circulation, Mugar Memorial Library (617-353-3732).
Recordings
Recordings may leave the library for classroom playback. You may also, in writing, authorize student borrowers for classroom presentations.
Naxos Playlists
Obtain your password from a supervisor at the Music Library if you are interested in creating a customized class listening list within the Naxos Music Library
Mugar Classrooms 203 and 205
If you need Mondays -- Saturdays: schedule "one shot" or semester long use through your school's departmental or administration's room assignment coordinator; they will work with the registrar for Mugar classroom assignments (Mugar staff cannot assign the rooms).
If you need time on Sundays: schedule via gsures@bu.edu, the GSU reservations service.
Room capacities & facilities: Mug 203 seats 24, Mug 205 seats 42. Both rooms have pianos, audio CD and phono playback, a wireless signal, overhead projectors, chalkboards, and VHS/DVD cart setup (wheel it in from Mug 209. Use the 'house audio' for iPod playback or bring your own dock. For LCD projection or VHS/DVD assitance, contact the Media Group at 617-353-3227.
Photocopy
Personal or departmental accounts may be established at any time. Contact Dan Herlihy, Mugar Memorial Library at 617-353-3722.
Carrels
Carrels are located on floors 4, 5 and 6 of Mugar Memorial Library. Arrange for an assignment through the Circulation Department (617-353-3732).
Collection Development
We invite your continuing participation in the shaping of our collection
holdings. Individual or committee collaborations might include:
addressing needs for current or proposed courses, modes of accessing
holdings, and identification of special purchases, gifts or donors.

Apply online for a Boston Library Consortium (BLC) library card. Explore also your home public library for benefits among the Minuteman Library Network and Massachusetts Regional Library Networks.
Use OCLC's Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program in selected locations when you travel. To apply, contact Cathy Annunciata, Mugar Memorial Library Administration Office, 617-353-3710.
