Academic Certificate in Software Development

There is a significant and growing demand for C++ and Java software development specialists. This certificate in Software Development provides students with the skills necessary to become part of a C++ or Java development team. Graduates of the program also acquire the background required to enter the software engineering certificate program and the Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science degree program.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of high school.

Curriculum

A total of 16 credits are required.

For students with no programming background:

  • MET CS 201 Introduction to Computer Science with C++
  • MET CS 331 Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming
  • MET CS 341 Data Structures with C++
  • MET CS 503 Windows .NET Application Programming with C# (C Sharp)  or MET CS 272 Introduction to Computer Systems

Fast Track

For students with a programming background, choose one of the following tracks (three courses):

C++ Track

  • MET CS 231 Introduction to Computer Science for Programmers
    with C++
  • MET CS 341 Data Structures with C++
  • MET CS 503 Windows .NET Application Programming with C# (C Sharp) or
    MET CS 272 Introduction to Computer Systems

Java Track

  • MET CS 232 Introduction to Computer Science with Java
  • MET CS 342 Data Structures with Java
  • MET CS 503 Windows .NET Application Programming with C# (C Sharp) or
    MET CS 272 Introduction to Computer Systems
