Science and Engineering Program
Overview

Overview

The Science and Engineering Program (SEP) at Boston University’s Metropolitan College allows high school graduates to enter a Boston University baccalaureate science or engineering degree program after the conclusion of SEP’s two-year course of study.

SEP students are fully matriculated Boston University degree candidates who participate in the full array of academic and extracurricular activities, including sports, music, student government, and student chapters of science and engineering professional societies. Through successful completion of the four semester course sequence (and Summer Term coursework), SEP students fulfill the freshman and sophomore year requirements of a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or the natural sciences. Upon successful completion of SEP, students apply for continuation at the end of their sophomore year to science or engineering degree programs at Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) or College of Engineering (ENG).

Advising
The Science and Engineering Program provides a system of academic support services ensuring each student ample opportunity to obtain the assistance needed to achieve academic success. Faculty are available to review coursework. Additional tutoring and study groups allow students to strengthen their academic skills and enhance their understanding of the material.

Students are advised by an academic counselor who provides both personal and academic support. The academic counselor monitors the students’ progress and guides students with academic and career advice as they progress through the program. The academic counselor also serves as a liaison between students and other offices and Colleges within the University.

Resources
SEP students have full access to Boston University’s resources, including:

The Pre-Professional Advising Office of the College of Arts and Sciences
The Educational Resource Center
The Office of Career Services
