Kevin Outterson, Associate Professor
LAW
Kevin Outterson joined the faculty at BU Law in Fall 2007. He began teaching as an associate professor of law at West Virginia University in 2002. Before coming to WVU, he was an income partner in the Tax and International groups at McDermott Will & Emery and a capital partner in the Health Law group at Baker Donelson. He is a graduate of the University of Cambridge (LL.M.) and Northwestern University (B.S. & J.D.). Professor Outterson teaches courses in health care, business law, and globalization. His research work focuses on two areas: global pharmaceutical markets and health disparities. His research papers are available online.
In 2005, Professor Outterson received the WVU College of Law Outstanding Research award for his article Pharmaceutical Arbitrage in the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law & Ethics. In 2006, Professor Outterson received the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award from the WV Law Review. In 2007, he received the Professor of the Year award at the College of Law. In 2004, he was appointed by Governor Wise to the West Virginia Pharmaceutical Cost Management Council, where he has worked to reduce the cost of prescription drugs. He serves on the board of Prescription Policy Choices and consults with goverments and NGOs concerning pharmaceutical pricing and access to medicines.
