Area Directors

Residence Hall Directors/Assistant Area Directors are full-time professional staff members who oversee the day-to-day operation of a specific residence hall and/or cluster of halls. These individuals provide direct supervision to the resident assistant (RA)/senior resident assistant (SRA) staff as well as the administrative secretaries in each of the hall offices. They serve as student conduct hearing officers and meet with students one on one who have allegedly violated the Boston University "Code of Student Responsibilities". They are supervised by the Area Directors, and serve on departmental communities to assist with annual projects and programs, such as RA selection and training.

Residence Hall Directors/Assistant Area Directors live on campus and, like Area Directors, you may see them on campus attending events, dining with colleagues, students and family members, and advising student clubs and organizations. Along with senior resident assistants, they serve in the Office of Residence Life on-call system at the “senior staff” level to provide support to the Resident Assistant (RA) tier.

Why should you contact your Residence Hall Director/Assistant Area Director? The Residence Hall Director should be contacted if you need assistance for a variety of reasons. These staff members are particularly adept at helping you to find your way around Boston University, and connecting you to other offices that may provide you the type of assistance that you may need. That said, the Residence Hall Directors/Assistant Area Directors are particularly helpful in mediating a roommate issue, especially after you have already gone to your RA and SRA for assistance.
