Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science
Program Focus: Developing the ability to think critically, solve problems and communicate effectively. Preparing students for careers in clinical nutrition, public health, research, industry, and medicine.
Possible Career Paths: Hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practice, athletic clubs/wellness centers, public health programs, food industry, pharmaceutical industry and consultancy to professional sports teams, corporations, and restaurants.
Degree Program
The program provides students with a broad background in the biological, chemical and nutritional sciences. Students choose one of two curricula options: the nutritional sciences option or the dietetics option.
Nutritional Science Option: prepares graduates for entry-level employment in the biomedical sciences in both academic and industrial settings. This option provides strong academic preparation for those students intending to go to graduate school in any of the life sciences, conduct biomedical research, or pursue medical or other professional studies.
Dietetics Option: provides a thorough understanding of nutrition theory and dietetic practice. Through a structured series of academic coursework, laboratory experiences, and practica, the curriculum emphasizes the development of critical and innovative thinking skills that will enable graduates to best serve the health care needs of society. The dietetics option focuses on professional practice.

Upon completing this option, students must complete an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved Dietetic Internship to be eligible to take the Registration Examination of the ADA. Graduates of this program will be eligible to participate in the national computer matching process for Dietetic Internships of the ADA.
