Affiliation/Internship/Summer Loans

You may be eligible for federal loans while you are on a required affiliation/internship to help cover the cost of your living expenses. A student must have a completed FAFSA on record. If a student is starting their affiliation May - early August or are taking at least 6 summer term credits, they need to complete the Federal Direct Stafford Summer Loan Application (download using the link below). This form will be available in the Academic Services Center (ASC), Room 207 at BU Sargent College in March. Please make sure you are using the current year’s summer application.

If a student is starting their affiliation/internship during the academic year, they can pick up the Stafford Loan Request Form for Graduate Students in Financial Aid Office (Room 217 at Sargent College) or you can download it below (For more information on downloading the form, see below). Please remember you should have any loan application submitted six weeks before you are to start any program.

In addition to submitting your loan application for your affiliation/internship, you should also complete a refund request form and submit both forms together. Please write the starting date of your affiliation/internship on the bottom of the refund request form. Your affiliation/internship start date is the first day your refund request form can be submitted.
