The Adult Recovery Network (ARN) is a voluntary association of consumers, family advocates and providers of services in Ohio. The ARN mission is to identify common areas of concern among consumers and family advocates. With these common concerns as a base, the ARN is to generate recommendations that can help transform the mental health system so that it becomes more consumer and family driven, and recovery focused as described in the President's New Freedom Commission Report.
This report details the progress the South Carolina Department of Mental Health has made on each of its goals. The goals include improved services to adults, children and their families; system support; community plans; and comparing the Departments goals with the ones outlined by the President's New Freedom Commision on Mental Health.

Utilizing trauma literature, a well-developed body of work that focuses specifically on recovery and is associated with research showing effectiveness, The Ontario Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association makes the following recommendations aimed at building a mental health system that is truly recovery oriented.

The Commission's report is a comprehensive plan of action to meet the needs of individuals in Ohio with mental illness, and it provides a strategy for prevention and early intervention. The report is to be used as an aid to increase the quality of mental health services and improve treatment outcomes and recovery from mental illness.
