PolyAtomic Molecule Explorer Installation
- Requires: Windows9X/NT
- Requires: A Java 1.1 enabled web browser such as Internet Explorer 4 and Netscape 4.
- If you haven't done so already, upgrade your web browser to Internet
Explorer 4 or Netscape
4.
- Download CosmoPlayer2.1
and install.
- If you had previously installed CP2.1 and are only now installing IE4, you may not have to install CP2.1 again.
- Installation tips
- Download the Visualization Toolkit vtk21.zip (6 mB) installer.
- Extract and Run vtk21.exe to install the Visualization Toolkit (2.1)
- For Netscape: copy vtkjava.dll and vtkdll.dll from C:\Windows\System (or C:\Winnt\System on NT) to C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Java\Bin\
- Download PMExp.zip (798k)
- Unzip the file to extract the PMExp.exe executable
- Run PMExp.exe to install Polyatomic Molecule Explorer
- Creates folder C:\PMExp and puts everything in it
- This folder name and location is essential.
- Set CLASSPATH variable (not necessary for Netscape operation)
- These files must be on the CLASSPATH:
- C:\PMExp\web\lava.jar
- C:\PMExp\web\qsad_library.jar
- C:\PMExp\web\VrmlViewer.jar
- C:\Program Files\Visualization Toolkit\java\vtk.jar
- This was probably already added by the VTK installer
- Restart computer
- Check CLASSPATH by running program MS-DOS Prompt and typing "set" with carriage return.
- Launch your web browser and open C:\PMExp\PMExp.htm
- Two security dialogs will appear which you should approve.
