QMap0.4 Installer
The InstallAnywhere web installer works best with Java enabled.
If the installer does not appear, try this alternate
download page.
Using the Program
This is an initial release of this program and consequently does not include
a full set of features.
Some known BUGS and things to watch out for:
-
In Delete mode every mouse click on any selected item deletes all
selected items. There is currently no undo operation.
-
After clicking the Delete button you are in delete mode until you click
on a different button.
-
In Edit mode, it is possible to drag selected items off of the screen.
If you drag things off the window to your left or up and release the mouse
you will not be able to to see them again. Even if you save your file and
restart. If you drag items off the window to the right and down you will
only see them again by resizing your window.
-
In Link mode, it is possible to create more than one link between
two concepts. This is not considered a valid concept mapping operation.
Using the program:
-
The set of buttons in the left of the window is the tool palette. Specify
a mode by clicking on one of the four buttons (Concept, Link, Edit, Delete).
-
In Concept mode, you create a concept by clicking in the window.
A small window pops up in which you must click and then type the label
for the concept. You must hit return to finish creating the concept.
-
In Link mode, you link one concept to another by first selecting
a concept, and then selecting another concept. This specifies a link from
the first selection to the second selection. A small window will pop up
in which you should type the linking words, followed by return.
-
In Edit mode, you can select concepts and links for moving them
about the window. Change the text of concept and link words by double-clicking.
-
In Delete mode, you delete concepts and links by clicking on them.
If you first select multiple concepts and/or links, all of them will be
deleted when you click on a subsequent concept or linking word.
-
Use the File menu to save your concept map or to open previously
saved concept maps. I recommend saving files into the mapfiles folder which
is included with your download. I recommend appending ".cmp" to the end
of your file name.
