BIO AND RESEARCH
I received a B.A. in Economics and Sociology from the University of Redlands (2001) and a M.A. in Sociology from Boston College (2004).  I am currently working with Nancy Ammerman on her project  "Spiritual Narratives in Everyday Life."  My dissertation, "Courting Eternity: LDS Dating, Courtship and Celestial Marriage In and Out of Utah," examines dating, courtship and marriage in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to determine what role the church plays in the mate selection process of its members, whether outside institutions and/or cultural beliefs affect members of the church, and whether those influences are stronger in regions where members are the religious minority or where they are the majority.

My teaching interests include religion, sexuality, gender, family, and media.
