certificate program in clinical practice with adolescents
This post-graduate certificate program offers the essential tools for effective work with today’s adolescents. Participants gain practical strategies for engaging resistant or mandated clients, and the program features a strength-based focus, emphasizing relationship building and the development of healthy coping skills. The instructor explores the unique challenges of managing confidentiality with teens and young adults in a variety of treatment settings. Some of the topic areas covered include: substance abuse, gang involvement, dating violence, unresolved grief, self harm, and premature pregnancy.
The program is taught using class discussions, readings, case vignettes, and guest speakers. Participants have the opportunity to present current cases for in class consultation.

Classes meet on Tuesdays, 6:00-8:30 p.m. for a total of 30 in-class hours, September-December 2008.
Tuition: $850; 30 CECs
