Housing and Dining

Summer Term students are welcome to live on campus at Boston University. Life on campus is vibrant and active, providing a unique opportunity for camaraderie and community as students dine, study and have fun together.

Students interested in summer on-campus housing should make arrangements directly through BU Housing. Summer 2009 housing details, including application deadlines and rates, are available on the BU Housing website. You may also e-mail housing@bu.edu with any questions.

Types of Housing

Boston University Arriving on CampusDouble rooms and a limited number of single rooms are available in dormitory-style and apartment-style residences. Rooms and apartments vary in size and design; residence rates are assessed on a per person basis and vary according to the type of accommodation. Residences are not air conditioned, and air conditioners of any kind are prohibited in the residences.

Rooms in dormitory-style and apartment-style residences contain a dresser, a desk, a mattress, a bed frame, and a chair for each student. Students must provide their own linens, including extra-long twin bed sheets (most beds are 80 inches long). Apartment-style residences are also furnished and equipped with kitchen and bathroom facilities; apartment residents must provide their own kitchen utensils, cleaning items, and bathroom supplies.

Residence Assignments

All residence assignments are made on a space-available basis and according to the dates that completed Residence License Agreements, Assignment Interest Forms, and housing guarantee payments are received by BU Housing.

Dining Plans

One residence dining room and other retail dining locations are open throughout the summer for your dining pleasure. Students assigned to dormitory-style residences must choose one of the three summer dining plans available. Participation in the dining program is optional for students assigned to apartment-style residences. Apartment residents can also choose to open a Convenience Points Plan (a points-only plan, in increments of $25) at the Terrier Card Office; payment is required at the time of purchase.
