Summer College Courses at Boston University (BU) Summer Term 2008

High School Honors Program

Boston University's High School Honors summer academic program is for academically motivated high school students who are entering their senior year in fall 2009. Participants will gain the intellectual challenge of a true undergraduate experience as they undertake coursework for credit (General Honors) or perform scientific research (Research Internship). Students may choose one of these two focuses:

  • Take college courses for credit in General Honors

This program was both fun and challenging. It introduced me to the rigorous work load and the social aspects of college. I definitely think that the way I budget my time for work and play is something I will take with me from this experience.

  • Conduct scientific research with a faculty mentor as a Research Intern

The research internship gives students a good perspective on campus life, and on working more independently on science questions than they've been asked to do before. They gain formal training, they learn to take intellectual risks, and they present a professional poster at their own conference. It is a very powerful experience.
