Miracle on Ice

BU men’s hockey team — and their fans — tough it out

By Edward A. Brown and Kimberly Cornuelle

59 seconds.

No longer just a number on the clock’s countdown, it became a moment BU fans solidified into legend .

“Every dog has its day, and today was the Terriers’,” says Ross Lichtenberg (SAR’10), better known around the rink as Jesus. His counterpart, Hot Dog, a.k.a. Brian Fadem (COM’10), was rendered speechless. “I have to say, that was the best game of hockey I’ve ever seen.”

Only a period earlier, even diehard fans at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., were having their doubts about grabbing a win against the Miami Redhawks. But only for a moment.

“I was a little scared,” says Brandon Epstein (SMG’09), after Coach Jack Parker pulled goalie Kieran Millan (CAS'12) to add an extra attacker to the ice. “But as nervous as I was during those last three minutes, I knew those guys would pull out a miracle — and they did.”

Thank you, guys

I've been a Terrier fan (by default) since birth, and coming to BU hockey games for literally as long as I can remember. Between the Beanpot, Hockey East and then that unbelievable game on Saturday - easily the best game of hockey I've ever watched - to seal the national championship, I feel like this entire season has been a personal gift to me, and to all graduating seniors. Thank you boys, for making it a great ride.

Greatest game ever.

I was at Agganis with my girlfriend, and with 1 minute to go the crowd was stunned in silence. But that moment when that 3rd goal hit to tie the game, words could'nt express the emotion going through that arena, it was amazing. When Cohen's slapper floated over the goalie's shoulder to win the championship is a moment I will never forget and was one of the best feelings ever. great season, great team= NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! GO BU!!!
