Bio:

Hello!! Welcome to my little section of autobiographical cyberspace. Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Elena Quattrone and I am Student Union Secretary for the 2007-2008 school year. I am excited for a productive year as a member of the executive board of the Student Union and invite you to learn more about me!

Elena was born and raised in Marlton, New Jersey, a suburban town in south jersey just minutes away from Philadelphia and an hour away from the Jersey shore. Considering the location in which she grew up, she considers herself a true “Jersey girl”, accustomed to spending summers on the beach, and exhibiting obnoxious Philly pride for all Philadelphia sports teams! (GO BIRDS!) She attended Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, a private high school in NJ, where she was a four year varsity swimmer and three year captain of the team. She also rowed for Eustace crew, and was involved with student government, the National Honor Society, campus ministry, community service, and president of Eustace’s chapter of Amnesty International.

She is senior in Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, majoring in Health Science and minoring in Public Health. Her interests lie in health policy, advocacy, and legislation. Upon graduation, she plans on attending law school and focusing her studies in the realm of Health Law.

Since coming to Boston University she has been involved in a variety of different programs and organizations across campus. From day one when she stepped on campus at orientation she knew she wanted to get involved and take advantage of everything Boston University had to offer. She had the invaluable experience of participating in the First Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP 15) in the Elders issue area, where she not only had the opportunity to perform hours of community service, but also make a positive influence on people’s lives, while becoming familiarized with Boston and meeting some of her still closest friends here at BU. Her involvement as a participant in FYSOP 15 set the stage for her later involvement as a hired staff member in the Elders issue area for FYSOP 17 two years later and her involvement with the Community Service Center’s Joining Hands Program for the past two years.

In conjunction with her involvement in the Community Service Center, she has served the Student Union General Assembly for the past 2 years as a voting member of the General Assembly. She was elected as the 575 Commonwealth Avenue Resident Hall Association (RHA) vice-president and GA representative in September 2005, and was elected as the vice-president of the 10 Buick Street RHA, also serving as 10 Buick’s voting GA representative. She has co-chaired the Residence Life Committee, which focused on improving residence life issues campus wise, and has chaired the “How-to-BU Committee” which organized, produced, and facilitated the distribution of the “How-To” pamphlet focused on life at Boston University to which you all have access, and enjoy today! Elena is also a Student Health Services Ambassador, working to achieve the goal of improving health services for students.

Since attending Boston University she has also served on the 2006-2007 Elections Commission which oversaw the Student Union Elections for the 2006-2007 school year, and has assisted in planning different events around campus such as last year’s President Brown’s Day of Community Service, She is also a Student Activities Office Activities Assistant and would be happy and willing to help your organization plan events, and assist you in filling out paper work!

She believes that her involvement in so many facets of Boston University has given her the invaluable experiences necessary for being an affective and influential advocate for the Student Union, a description which she believes defines the role of an elected Student Union Executive Board member. By being so involved with student life here on campus, she has had the opportunity to interact with students on a daily basis, and voice their concerns to the best of her ability, advocating for the needs of the student body. She is extremely personable, and approachable, and encourages you to contact her if you ever have any concerns, or if you ever just want to say hi, or get involved! Friends are a huge part of her life, and the more the merrier.

Thank you! You are all encouraged to become involved with the Student Union and help make this a fabulous year! Thanks again!
