Drawing Bitmap Objects

You can draw in bitmap objects and use all the different drawing tools with various fill and strokes settings. The most important thing to remember is, that the drawing on the bitmap will change the underlying pixels permanently.

Drawing in selected areas

Remember that when a marquee is visible and pixels are selected only the selected area will be changed by the drawing tools.

Drawing tools

The pencil tool will always draw a 1-pixel hard line. No matter what you enter in the stroke panel, the settings will revert. There are three options that are displayed in the tool options panel.

Although the line is hard pixels, you can select to draw anti-aliased and blend it into the image. Auto erase draws the fill color over the stroke. Preserve transparency means that transparent areas of the bitmap will not show the drawn stroke.

Stroke PanelThe brush tool offers many different settings through the stroke panel options in the properties inspector. In combination with a pressure sensitive tablet and a stylus you can create great digital renditions of strokes such as calligraphic writing instruments produce.

You can use all contraining key combinations to create straight lines or lines at predefined angles.
