Determine your MAC operating system and RAM
Operating System
- Click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
- Click on the "About this Mac" menu option.
- A small window will appear with system information.
- If the window has the words "Mac OS X", look underneath for the Version information. If the screen does not have the words "Mac OS X," please proceed to Step 7 in this list.
- If you see Version 10.2.0 or higher, including 10.3.x, 10.4.x or 10.5.x you should proceed to the
RAM section.
- If you see Version 10.1.x or lower, you need to upgrade your operating system before attempting to access Blackboard Vista. Please visit the Apple website to learn about upgrading. Once you have completed the upgrade, please continue to the RAM section.
- If the "About this Mac" screen does not contain the words "Mac OS X", you are using an OS that is not supported by Blackboard Vista. You will need to upgrade to OS X 10.2.0 or higher before trying to access Blackboard Vista. Please visit the Apple website to learn about upgrading your system.
RAM
- Click on the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
- Click on the "About this Mac" menu option.
- A small window will appear with system information.
- If Memory: displays a value of 256MB or greater, you should proceed to the Connection Speed test. Please note: If your computer only has 256MB of RAM, Blackboard Vista will run very slowly. It is recommended that you have at least 768MB of RAM installed in your machine for acceptable performance.
- If you have under 256MB of RAM, you need to install more RAM in your computer before attempting to use Blackboard Vista. Please visit your local computer store for more information.
